The Inspiring Origin of Mildun Training Center: Empowering Dreams and Launching Careers

Nestled in a Chicagoland suburb about 30 miles northwest of downtown, a remarkable story of determination, empowerment, and opportunity unfolds. Mildun Training Center, a vocational school approved by the Illinois Department of Higher Education, stands as a testament to the vision of two remarkable women who turned their own experiences into a pathway for others to succeed.

Mildun Training Center, located in Wheeling, Illinois, is more than just a vocational school. It's a beacon of hope and opportunity, born from the shared experiences and aspirations of its founders, Mila Aronov and Milla Shilshtut. Their journey from immigrants to educational pioneers exemplifies the American dream and their desire to extend that dream to others.

A few years after immigrating to the United States, two friends, Mila Aronov and Milla Shilshtut found themselves reflecting on the challenges they faced as newcomers to the country. Despite their proficiency in English, they recognized that many immigrants arrive without language skills, making the pursuit of a career even more daunting. Moreover, they understood the frustration of having credentials from their home countries that held little weight in their new home.

Driven by a shared desire to create opportunities for others like themselves, Mila A. approached Milla S. with a bold idea: to start a school. Their goal was clear - to provide women with a chance to develop new skills or enhance existing ones, all while navigating the complexities of building a life in a new country.

As working women and mothers themselves they understood the demands placed on working women and mothers, they initially designed their program to run on Sundays, ensuring that students could pursue their dreams without sacrificing their current income-producing roles. This thoughtful approach became the cornerstone of Mildun's philosophy - accessible education that fits into real life.

Neither Mila nor Milla had experience in establishing an educational program, but their determination was unwavering. After extensive research and planning, their idea became a reality. What began as a Sunday-only program soon expanded to include Friday evening and Saturday cohorts, responding to the growing interest and need in their community.

Today, Mildun Training Center has evolved beyond its initial focus on immigrant women. It now welcomes any individual seeking a change or new opportunity in the healthcare field. The center offers comprehensive 16-week programs in either medical assisting or dental assisting, providing students with vital skills such as EKG, phlebotomy, medical billing as a medical assistant student or chairside dental assisting, and medical billing as a student in the dental assistant program.

The program's flexibility remains a key feature, with classes offered on Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays, allowing students to choose the day that best fits their schedule. A new Tuesday evening cohort is on the horizon, further expanding accessibility.

Mildun's commitment to student success is evident in its impressive 80% job placement rate. The center not only prepares students for state certification exams but also assists them in launching rewarding careers in healthcare. This makes the program an excellent option for recent high school graduates looking to work while continuing their education, as well as for adults seeking a career change.

While English proficiency is not a requirement for enrollment, Mildun goes above and beyond by offering translation services in Russian, Ukrainian, and Spanish. They also connect students with resources to improve their English skills, ensuring that language is not a barrier to pursuing their dreams.

Years after its inception, Mildun Training Center continues to be led by both Milla S. and Mila A. Their personal experiences as immigrants fuel their ongoing commitment to helping others who, like them, are new to the country and eager to expand their medical knowledge and career opportunities.

The story of Mildun Training Center is more than just the tale of a vocational school. It's a narrative of empowerment, of turning personal challenges into opportunities for others, and of the enduring belief that with the right support and education, anyone can build a successful career and a brighter future.

As Mildun Training Center looks to the future, it remains true to its founding principles - providing accessible, quality education that empowers individuals to transform their lives through rewarding careers in healthcare. It stands as a beacon of hope and opportunity, continuing to write new chapters of success with each student who walks through its doors.
